Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior representative commented the attack made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
